Here is a clue: I just can’t get you out of my head

Yep, this episode of Reclaim The Crone has been inspired by a BBC interview with the icon that is Kylie Minogue. I love Kylie. (You may notice a theme with all the women I choose for Reclaim The Crone and that is my admiration and respect).

At a time when recruiters are blatantly saying that people of 57 and over are too old to work, may I point out to you, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Bryan Adams and someone who is 57 next year – Kylie.  Even the Gallagher brothers are in their 50s. I am 57 this year too and I am still ‘working’.  I love what I do so it really does not feel like work.  But back to Kylie….

There is so much to admire about Kylie. Her skill at making herself a brand.  How well she does to keep her private life under wraps in an industry that demands to know everything and that she is even more fabulous now that when she started out.

I love this interview with her and here is what particularly struck me:  "We're paddling, paddling, paddling, and sometimes you catch a wave.”

That is just how it feels when you work for yourself.  You paddle – keeping going – you know a wave is coming, you’re not sure when, but you’re not going to get out of the water, you’re staying there, paddling so when the waves comes, you are ready.

A reminder that the spiritual definition of a crone is:

“A woman who has lived a rich and fulfilling life that has moved her beyond knowledge to wisdom.  A woman revered and respected for her wisdom, truth telling and her compassion and capacity to love.  A Crone has a beautiful spirit that she shares with the world.”

Yep, that sounds like Kylie to me.

May you catch your wave. Thank you for reading. Ruth
