Guidance for choosing intuitive and soul support
This is taken from my book ‘Reclaim Your Intuition: A Practical Guide to Live with Intention, Be in Flow and Feel Empowered’.
If you are looking for or interested in looking for an Intuitive, Medium or Psychic for a personal reading or guidance, ethics still play an important role. Here are my top tips when selecting an Intuitive to work with:
Engage: check if the Intuitive has Terms and Conditions or if you are entering into any intuitive reading or programme informally. Not having terms and conditions is not always a barrier as they may outline at the beginning of the session what you can expect.
Listen: be circumspect about how much information you divulge up front, for example if you are asked what brought you here today, if there is a specific issue in your life or what you want to know. If you are visiting a Medium, allow the Medium to bring forth the spirit that comes to them, rather than you telling them about Great Aunt Gertrude and asking where she buried her fortune. As an Intuitive I find it easier to read for people I do not know than for people I do. When I read for someone I know, I make sure that we do not have too much chat at the start of the session so they do not influence the reading I give them. However, once I have mostly completed my reading, I do ask my client if they have any further questions or if they want clarity on anything raised in the reading. If an intuitive asks you at the start of the reading, I suggest you politely ask them to do the reading and you will let them know at the end if you have any further questions.
Recommendation: this is likely how most professional Intuitives receive their work. Ask your friends, colleagues or people in your network if they can recommend someone.
Predictions: be wary of Intuitives making predictions. Although Intuitives can make very accurate predictions, my personal experience is that there are so many variables in the Universe that have to align for a prediction to become real, that often the prediction does not materialise or does not play out it in the way it was explained. If you are given a prediction, question it and challenge it. A professional Intuitive is going to be ok with you asking such questions. I generally do not make predictions but give the potential of situations and events based on current circumstances and conditions, how a situation may resolve, change or what can be expected from it in the future. If a client wants advice on a specific situation, I look for all the potential outcomes and the circumstances under which that may happen. I feel this is far more beneficial for clients and prevents them getting focused on one thing that may leave them disappointed if it does not happen. My focus is not about right or wrong action, because both can be right and wrong at the same time; it is about the experience that action gives you.
Other People: your reading is your reading and if it is a predictive reading looking at the present or the future, the Intuitive should only be referencing you. It is unethical to read for someone else without their permission or to give guidance to someone who is not party to the reading. An Intuitive may talk about other people in your life, but only as the relationship relates to you and how you may handle difficult situations with them. The reading should never focus on someone else and what they should do. Of course, if you are visiting a Medium, naturally they are going to connect to souls and spirits. However, Mediums are usually delivering messages from those spirits and for most people the experience is that they receive a message of love or get some comfort from hearing from a departed loved one. I have see Mediums pass on messages advising family members to see a doctor or get something checked out. These are not predictions of what might come, but a loving message from a departed loved one. If you get a message like that be sure to take action.
Unrequested readings/feedback/information: the biggest ethical mistake that Intuitives and wellbeing specialists can make is to give a reading or advice when you have not asked for it. Intuitive and wellbeing types usually have an overriding need to help people and because they can share messages, often believe they have a duty to do so, whether someone is a client or not. I consider this to be unethical. I have high standards, what can I tell you. It is never up to an Intuitive, Medium or Healer to deliver guidance or a message just because they can. It is important to ask the person you have the message for, if they are happy to receive it. You, as the client, must always have the choice to say yes or no.
